Why We Must Follow Our Founding Documents (An Opinion)

The Declaration of Independence

(2nd Paragraph)



We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.




I am changing the thrust in these posts. By virtue of the title, I have added a revised emphasis. Why? I thought liberty-loving Americans must confront the cancerous, Progressive-World View, which holds to and promotes the lie that "The Constitution of the United States is no longer relevant to a modern society." After analyzing the voting results coming out of South Carolina's GOP primary, I became convinced that I omitted a key piece to the ideological puzzle - The Declaration of Independence.




On the 50th Anniversary of our First Founding Document, the Honorable John Quincy Adams, the 6th President of the former United States, presented a greater than thirty thousand word dissertation explaining why the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution were inseparable. To provide a super condensed summary, he indicated that these were two sides of a single gold coin (Ron Paul supporters should be happy with this sound money reference). The heart of Abraham Lincoln's Gettysburg Address is the phrase that our nation was, "conceived in liberty and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal." This keystone can never be ignored. Promoters of the progressive-world view may pay it lip service but their evil actions speak louder than words.




Progressives promote government dependence; even if it is couched in terms of limited government. For example, I heard in this past week's debates the need to modernize Charleston's harbor to accommodate larger ships. In these debates, I heard the Government should play a role in this development. The same applied to energy development. I did not hear anyone, including Ron Paul, talk about abolishing the Department of Energy or any other Federal agencies - just restructure them. If these offices remain in any capacity, they will continue to do everything within their dictatorial, illegitimate, tyrannical power to prevent development. If the people of South Carolina want to improve Charleston harbor, they should do it. Americans from Montana to Louisiana should build the the Keystone pipeline, regardless of what the liar-in-chief says. If he wants to stop it, he - along with his EPA NAZI administrators - should stand in front of the bulldozers - but that would be standing in the way of progress - oops.




The Progressive model means more government dependency, which is the cancer killing individual liberty. But anything goes freedom, a.k.a. anarchy, never endures. It self-destructs because it lacks balance. After a short reign-of-terror, power grabbing dictators move in to, "Restore order." The counterbalance to unchecked liberty is responsibility. Our Creator requires us to be responsible to Him, to ourselves, and to each other - but not to the collective. Both Republican and Democrat Progressives have succeeded in rendering the Constitution (the HOW a legitimate government must behave) and the Declaration (the WHAT constitutes a legitimate government and the WHY it is established) irrelevant. Do you notice the reporting structure? Why do we need so many agencies, departments, and "Government Corporations?" Why do most report to the Executive Branch? Are they responsible to WE THE PEOPLE? No, they are not. Can you see how the Executive Branch has converted the Constitution into a meaningless piece of parchment? If this cancerous condition remains unchecked, this administration will extinguish the light of freedom. Once again, darkness will cover the earth, and evil will reign until God matures new sons of liberty.
